Marian Lesnicki

Marian has been a teacher of middle school aged
children (11-13 year olds) for 35 years. One of the
highlights during that time was writing the first
German Language Curriculum for Primary School
Children in South Australia. Marian has taught in a
number of schools. Another highlight was the
opportunity to teach German to children aged
between 5 and 13 over a period of 4 years.
He is married to his wife Louise and they have lived
on their 2 acre property in the Adelaide Hills for the
past 20 years. They share their farm with 2 cats, a
dog, 4 chickens and 2 sheep.
Marian joined the Rotary Club of Onkaparinga in
1992. Since that time, he has not only held every
position in the Club (except Treasurer), he has been
the President twice, in 1999-2000 and in 2009-2010.
Marian has a passion forworking with young people
and has fulfilled this by being involved at District
level on both the Long Term Youth Exchange and
RYLA Committees.
Marian has a number of hobbies and interests. He
enjoys gardening, fishing and the odd round of golf,
but admits he is not very good at it. Living in the
heart of a wine growing area, Marian enjoys the
chance to open a bottle of red wine with friends
whenever the opportunity arises. He particularly
enjoys watching football (soccer), especially at a
junior level, where he is currently the Manager of
the State Girls Under 12 Soccer Team.
Speaking 3 languages, Marian has alsoworked for 20
years in a local ethnic community radio station,
which services 47 languages in the Adelaide
Community.
